Anti-Oppression Symposium!
On Saturday March 9th, CFRU is hosting an anti-oppression symposium at Ed Video from 10am-5pm. This is an accessible space with accessible washrooms.
The symposium is free and is open to all CFRU volunteers, board members, staff, and anyone who is interested in radio & media!
CFRU will be providing lunch and snacks with gluten-free and vegan options, as well as coffee & tea.
Attendees are welcome to come for some or all of this event.
To help make CFRU better, we are also asking for anonymous feedback about your experiences at CFRU - which will then be discussed at the symposium. You can submit feedback by using our form here, or the Comment Box we have available outside the station doors.
Using workshops, group discussions & activities, our goal is to figure out ways we can make CFRU better, build skills for combatting oppression, and apply this to community radio in all its forms.
This will be an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of what anti-oppression is, why it matters, and how to integrate anti-oppressive practices in radio, media, and everyday life.
We're doing this because we believe that it's important for everyone to have a voice, and that there are things we can improve on to make sure those voices are heard - with your help.
We’ll also be sending out a more detailed outline of the day very soon. So watch your inbox and check out our Event Page on Facebook!
If you are interested in attending, please take a moment to register here so that we can plan meals and space accordingly. There is also space on the registration form where you can let us know of any additional dietary needs for the meals.
